Independently owned and operated for over 27 years, this family operation seeks to delivery superior quality food, service and atmosphere to make your dining experience memorable. Whether you are in the mood for lunch, dinner, dessert or just a drink we have you covered. While we have only owned our restaurant for 27 years our hands-on experience in the hospitality field easily exceeds a century. Knowledge was passed down from father to son for many generations. My great-grandfather was a sea captain that fished the Mediterranean. He taught my grandpa, Ambrose, all there is to know about fishing. After the journey to America they peddeled fresh fruit and produce together around Detroit. Then in the 40’s they opened a fruit, seafood and meat market in the city. On the other side of the family, my mom’s father, known as “Captain” operated his own successful Metro-Detroit restaurant chain called Captains. He had locations in Detroit, Harper Woods and Algonac. My mom’s uncle Tom began the confectionery magnum Morley Candy Makers. Oh I almost forgot to mention my cousins in Canada operated a tobacco and dairy farm too. My uncle Robert and Uncle Eddie operate a winery in Traverse City (The vineyard is a must see! It’s so beautiful and produces great German style varietals). We have experience just about everywhere. To summarize for the past 100 years we’ve caught it, grown it and studied it and over the past 27 years we have been preparing it fresh for you. Here’s a run down of the locations.

Brengman Brothers Winery, Traverse City, MI. The Crain Hill site has been growing fruit for nearly 50 years. Grapes were first planted in 2002. The property hosts a winery, tasting room and banquet facilities. Hats off to my uncles Robert and Eddie Brengman. Unlike a restaurant you can’t wake up one day, build a winery and sell wine the next day. It takes years of learning, studying and growing to get the yields you need to produce and sell it yourself. For the past ten years my two uncles have studied, tried, endured, failed and succeeded. In my option the geographical location allows for great growing conditions for whites such as riesling, chardonnay, pinot grigio, gewurztaminer, vignoles, and moscate. Even reds like merlot, cabernet franc and pinot noir’s can grow well. To kick it up a notch all of these wines can be made sparkling. The fun, bubbly, sparkling wines will put Michigan on the map globally. Stop by for a taste.
